What in my pack?

I've never shared my pack load-out or put together a gear video, so I am hear thoughts and ideas from others. This is the load, for the most part, that I've been using since last summer. There are a few extra clothes items because we'll be on the AT in NC next week and it is still a little cold out there.

A new journey begins

Over the years, I have blogged on a number of topics and in a number of venues. From running a political blog under a pseudonym to writing about education for my local newspaper, the Tallahassee Democrat, I have always enjoyed writing on topics about which I am passionate. It makes sense, then, that I would eventually turn my attention to the outdoors. So, here we go.

I plan on the direction of this blog being rather organic. Simply put, I'm not quite sure what all it will include. You should certainly expect to see trip reports on my day hikes, weekend adventures and extended backpacking journeys. Backpacking gear reviews, book reviews and other topics of interest to hikers will be a staple. However, it may eventually include other outdoor pursuits - paddling and the like.
